What are Baby Turnips?
Baby Turnips are harvested young and are generally smaller and more delicate than mature turnips. They belong to the Brassica family. Depending on the variety, their skin may be white, cream, or white with purple shoulders; the appearance of this particular supply has not yet been verified.
Their small format makes baby turnips a useful choice for vegetable-focused menus, with roasting, glazing and braising particularly well suited to presenting them whole or halved. Exact size, colour, leaf presentation, grade, pack weight and permitted origins need confirmation from a dedicated supplier specification.
Taste & texture
Delicate, Mildly Peppery Flavour
Baby turnips commonly have a mild, slightly sweet and peppery brassica flavour. Cooking softens their sharpness and enhances their natural sweetness.
Crisp and firm when raw; tender and juicy when properly cooked. Texture varies according to variety, maturity and preparation.
